On March 3rd back in 1973, representatives from numerous countries convened to sign an essential agreement called the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). This agreement acted as an international safety net for species threatened by trade. Subsequently, on December 20th, 2013, the United Nations General Assembly declared March 3rd as World Wildlife Day each year. This day not only commemorates the signing of CITES but also encourages global reflection on how crucial these “wild” friends are to us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
